CHAPTER 9 - NOthin' Like The Feelin'
A while back, I tried to pitch this song to Blue Bell. I thought the whole theme of “coming home” was right up their alley. Unfortunately, they weren’t interested at the time. They already had a theme song. It was the same one they’d had for years - I know it well actually. My friend Aaron Barker wrote it. However, I think Blue Bell might be ready for a rebrand now. As much as I hate to say this (and please forgive me Aaron), something about the old slogan “Tastes Like The Good Ole Days” just doesn’t sound very appetizing after that whole listeria scare….
Elsewhere in the Brazos County, Tour Mama and Bouncer Don are now officially back in Texas and living out the happy ending I helped them write. They returned home just in time to find the ice cream they were so desperately craving had been pulled from the shelves. I’m sure they, along with the rest of the state of Texas, were fretting and praying over the course of those miserable four or five months that we all had to settle for Haagen Daaz, anxiously awaiting the fate of our hometown ice cream company. But now that Blue Bell is back in business, the song has at last come full circle. TM sent me a selfie not too long ago: she and Bouncer Don were happily rocking away on their back porch, watching the sun going down over the Brazos Valley with big ole bowls of Homemade Vanilla ice cream melting in their laps.
And if that ain’t the picture of Blue Bell, then I don’t know what is!
**Due to a recent phone death, I no longer have that picture… I may have to re-stage that scene on the porch when Blue Bell comes calling.
